Welcome to one of the top family destinations in the Swellendam area of the Western Cape. Only 2 hours drive from Cape Town and conveniently situated 5km off the N2, Kam’Bati River Resort was founded on the 11th of November 2003 on the Badenhorst family farm Jubileeeskraal. This is also where the Breede River and Sonderend River meets up – “where the rivers meet”
Originally designed as a special events venue and home to some of the biggest events like Die Burger and kykNET Buite Ekspo, Breede K2 Canoe Marathon, Land Rover Rally, Raka Music Festival, Adventure Racing Series, Mantra Arts and Music Festival and Vortex Music Festival, management at the resort soon discovered its target market which is young families, with activities and facilities specifically designed for kids between 3 and 13 years of age.
Only 2 hour drive from the large metros of Cape Town and George, the resort is a popular weekend getaway spot along the Garden Route. With some of the best freshwater fishing spots along the popular Breede River, fisherman regularly show off their huge Carp catches on fishing social media pages and groups.
The resort was one of the first glamping providers in South Africa, when the second Africamps camp with 5 glamping tents was established in 2016 on the farm. Africamps at Kam’Bati now consists of thirteen very comfortable tents, that offers you a complete boutique camping experience. These tents all offers large decks to optimise views with a built in braai, indoor fireplace for the chilly nights and a fully equipped kitchenette and dining area that opens onto the deck. The tents are loadshedding free, with invertors and batteries to keep the lights and free wifi on during these challenging times.
The best part is certainly the wood fired hot tubs at all Self Catering units at the resort!
The resort is well known for camping under large blue gum trees on green grass with clean ablutions facilities. All campsites have access to the SABS standard blue caravan plug power points.
There is a range of activities to choose from on the resort and a few worth mentioning is canoeing (bring your own canoe) on the breede river, fishing(bring your own equipment) putt putt, hiking and cycling gravel roads, and for the younger ones there is several slides at the pool they can enjoy! Our Pizza Restaurant “Peckish” is open and ideal for a quick bite next to the swimming pools while the kids take a swim and play in the playground.
Kambati River Resort is a well secluded resort that is very safe, clean and child friendly. Remember to visit Kambati next time you are looking for a great family break away!
